Double gauze is two fine layers of cotton woven together approximately every square centimetre (sew with it as if it's one layer). It is surprisingly robust and durable, as well as being warm in winter and cool in summer. Just lovely for garments including shirts, dresses and loose pants, as well as being a favourite for whole cloth quilting.
