Established in 2013, The Drapery is a real, bricks-and-mortar fabric shop in Adelaide, South Australia, as well as this online store you are currently perusing.
Jane and Fiona, pictured, are the humans behind the business. Not so much 'behind' really since we're here front and centre all the time - hello! We started The Drapery because we couldn't find the sorts of natural fibre fabrics and modern patterns we were looking for locally. We're ably assisted by the excellent Lauren who helps fulfil online orders.
We specialise in natural fabrics for garment sewing, particularly more sustainable fibres like linen, hemp, wool and organic cotton, plus independent designer patterns and high quality notions. Hand-crafting and sewing are an antidote to a throwaway society. So treat yourself to beautiful materials, that will last!
One of the loveliest things about having this business has been the growing community of like-minded sewists we have met, in person and via our online presence. We really appreciate your support of our Australian small business. In Adelaide, we'd love you to call in at:
308A Glen Osmond Rd, Fullarton
Phone (08) 7324 5883
OPEN: Wednesday - Friday 10am - 4pm, Saturday 12 noon - 4pm
For more about us, see this lovely article from the folks at CityMag.
We acknowledge the Kaurna people, who are the traditional custodians of the land on which this shop stands. The Drapery acknowledges the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this nation and we pay our respects to ancestors and Elders, past and present.
